Happy Australia Day
27 Jan 2015
From all the team at Immigration2oz we want to wish you a Happy Australia Day!
What is Australia Day?
The 26th of January marks the date the First Fleet arrived in Sydney Cove in 1788. A public holiday in Australia, Australians celebrate in different ways from BBQs and beach cricket to parades, concerts and fireworks. It also marks the most popular day for people to become Australian citizens with citizenship ceremonies held across the country.

Celebrate Australia Day!
Would you like to celebrate Australia Day in Australia in 2016? Take one step closer to taking in the fireworks in Darling Harbour, the tennis in Melbourne or a concert in Canberra and give us a call to get your visa application under way.
In the meantime, with temperatures hitting the 30s in Australia it may be a bit too cold to recreate a true Australia Day here but there are ways you can still celebrate.
Tune into Triple J- Australia's youth radio station- where they will be counting down the Hottest 100 songs of 2014. With more than 1 million votes counted in 2013, you can listen to this years countdown online at http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/14/
Bake a sweet treat- Australian's like to mark the national day with a lamington or pavlova. For a range of Australian recipes to try out check out http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/collections/australia+day
Raise a toast- Head down to the local pub and see what Aussie beers they have on tap. While Fosters is easiest to find, we recommend hunting down a bottle of VB, Carlton Draught or Coopers for a real Australian taste.
From all the team at Immigration2oz we hope you have a great Australia Day!
